Best 3 Time and Expense Software

It’s no secret that one of the biggest industries in SaaS is time and expense software. SaaS developers are always doing what they can to further improve the functionality of software, as well as its quality. New software appears often, while others vanish into obscurity as well.

So, although I’ve outlined offerings in this field, in the past- there is always a need to stay contemporary with what’s available.

Time and expense solutions are no exception to this rule. Every so often, I must revisit this niche to see what’s improved, what’s new, and what’s has not changed at all (a great way to see what’s becoming the standard).

It’s that time again, to see if any new players have shown up to oust the previous top contenders. That said, let’s get on with it.

#1 – actiTIME

actiTIME is a web-based time tracking suite, and a pretty powerful one. While it’s not brand new, it’s getting rave reviews for its ease-of-use and its extensive features.

Among these features are : project cost and client billing, time locking (for modification), PDF invoices, leave time management, staff performance reports, user groups, cost of work reports, user work assignments and the ability to comment on time entries.  In addition, actiTIME offers billing summary reports, estimated versus actual time reports, mobile timesheets, email notifications, over and under time management, Quickbooks integration, and so much more.

Although actiTIME is a heavy hitter, it is scalable to most business sizes, so don’t let being a startup or a small business discourage you from giving this one a try.

#2 – Teamwork Project Manager

Teamwork is a project, finances and time manager all rolled into one. I recommend it as a solution for all three; When you look at some of the features, you’ll see why.

Among many features (too many to list here) are: project management functionalities, issue tracking and help desk systems, team collaboration, time management, events notification, project templates, process management and work flows. It also offers Gantt charts, custom forms and reports, issue planning, shared workgroup agendas, mobile module customization, time sheets, billing reports, budgeting and project costs management.

This is a big service, so if you don’t want to fill all three niches…stick to a smaller provider.

 #3 – Easy Time Tracking

Sometimes, less is more; simpler is better. Easy Time Tracking solution brings this concept home. If you just need a basic expense and time tracking system without a lot of fluff and excess complexity, then this one’s for you. Easy Time Tracking’s features are basic but they cover all the bases:  time tracking, invoice creation, customer, project and task management, expense tracking and report generation.

This is the software that I’d use, if I were in charge of a small business.

Time and expense software is necessary, and there’s no need for old tool chains when software like this is affordable, practical and very effective. I have listed three leaders in this field, check them out and see which one works best for you.
